AIR MAX 89
Air Max II (commonly known as Air Max Light) 1989
Originally released in 1989 as the Air Max II, the Air Max Light was intended as
a successor to the Air Max. It weighed less than than the original, achieved by
replacing the forefoot polyurethane midsole with one made from phylon. Marketed
as a performance running shoe, the Light would eventually be overshadowed by the
Air Max III, now known as the Air Max 90.
